I read the previous review and had heard that this transmission shop was one of the best around. I have had my problems with mechanical shops and body shops and am always very cautious when it comes to taking my car in... but needless to say I had high hopes. I took my car in the first time and it was obvious that reverse (manual trans) would not engage. I thought they had everything going for them when I went in to see the parts and the actual assembly. The man even put everything back together to show me how everything worked. I spoke with nearly everyone there and felt comfortable with their abilities. A week later I got the call to get my car back and it was a laundry list of parts, I even got the old ones back. When I'm pulling out of the parking lot my car grinds into 2nd gear, it does it multiple times before everything warms up. I drive it like this for a couple days then finally call them back. They gave me a 12month/12kmile warranty and they took the car back quickly with concern. Two people test drove it and they couldn't find anything. They asked for more detail and I explained it was more with cold start up. Two days later they call me to say they replaced the standard transmission fluid with Honda manual transmission fluid (something they had already billed my for). I go to retrieve my car, on the second shift to 2nd gear it grinds on me again. Not to mention when I got my car back the first time there was horrible road noise that wasn't there, the clip that holds the rod to hold the hood up was broken (this could happen to anyone), but the thing that pissed me off was my brakes felt squishy. They were making horrible noise and I figured I should change them. I do this myself and find that my brake fluid resevoir was open, from under my hood. They opened my resevoir and didn't shut it tightly. Question is, what would they be doing with this when I take it in for transmission problems. It could not be blamed on anyone else since I personally replaced my clutch master cylinder a day before taking my car in and knew personally that both the clutch resevoir and brake resevoir were shut tightly. My original problem is fixed, only giving way to a hand assembled mistake on their part that they don't seem to want to open the transmission and deal with head on; blaming their standard trans fluid on the problem, when it happens to me immediately from leaving their lot. Regardless of warranty, I am not taking my car back there. They are nice people, but it comes down to the work I am paying for, and it wasn't worth it.

I had a problem with my transmission in my Taurus so I called everybody in town to see who was best qualified to help me. I considered how knowledgeable they sounded on the phone, availability, and how much they sounded like they cared and really wanted to help me. Price was a factor but as I learned, you don't really know what's wrong with it till you open it up. Some answered the phone and qouted me a price without even looking at it which I find odd given they didn't even look at it. I've been down that road before and have been burned. They tell you one thing, and then once they have you there, they deliver the bad news about it being worse than they thought and ultimately the price goes up. A couple of shops sounded like I was bothering them.. which I find even more odd.. given this economy. And only a couple answered the phone by telling me they would have to see it first to see just how bad it was. I can respect that kind of honesty. Out of the two who did that, the one I chose was Weber Transmission on the East side. I chose them because of their BBB rating. It was tops. So I took my car there. The front desk lady and the staff was very nice. They all talked to me like they cared and not like I was a child and.. they even gave me a ride to work so I didn't have to arrange someone to come pick me up. A couple of days later my car was fixed and it's been running great ever since. I have a nationwide warranty and an overall sense of security that the job was done right. Compared to the other shops that qouted me a price over the phone, their prices were very comparable and when I talked to the guy who checked out my car, I got the sense that they were a very good bunch of guys over there. I don't give my endorsement too easily.. But I definetly will endorse their services. I felt they were honest and had integrity which is something that is very important to me and rare anymore, especially in the automotive repair industry.
